Call the records line at (337) 898-4405 during the published Monday through Friday hours of 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. For a current jail-status question, contact booking at (337) 898-4430 or jail administration at (337) 898-4424. Different offices hold different stages of a case. Use these routes to avoid sending a request to an office that does not have the record:
- For a local booking record or releasable photograph, begin with the county records and roster instructions, then contact VPSO Records.
- For an active warrant question, call the sheriff and consult an attorney or the proper court.
- For a person booked today, use the sheriff's Last 24 Hours view and call booking if the status is urgent.
- For release or transfer alerts, use Louisiana VINE or call the jail for a current confirmation.
- For a city police report, contact Abbeville, Kaplan, or Erath police as the arresting agency; VPSO may separately hold the jail record.
- For a sentenced state prisoner, use the Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections inmate information route.
